Marrakech
Fnaïre, from Marrakech, formed in the early 2000s by Achraf, Tizaf and Khalifa and Dj Van, became one of the first to mix rap with traditional Moroccan music. They created a unique style called “traditional rap” or “Ta9lidi Rap” in Darija, which made their music popular with both younger and older audiences. Their songs often talk about Moroccan culture, pride, and the challenges people face, helping people connect with their roots through rap.
When they started, Fnaïre faced some pushback from conservative circles and limited support, as hip-hop was new to Morocco. But they stayed true to their style, blending Moroccan traditions with modern rap, and gradually gained respect and popularity, both in Morocco and internationally.
Today, Fnaïre is seen as a groundbreaking group in Moroccan rap, inspiring younger artists to blend their heritage with modern music.
