As Moroccan rap evolved and gained an international fan base, major foreign labels like Universal Music Group and Sony Music Middle East started signing local talents like Iguidr, Ljasos, Rays, and 7liwa.
This success was made possible by the efforts of earlier rappers like Shayfeen, Dros, and 7liwa, who paved the way for the genre’s growth. These partnerships gave Moroccan artists the resources to create top-notch music and videos, raising the bar for the industry and earning global recognition.

Labels were drawn to the authenticity of Moroccan rap, which is rooted in Darija and mixes global hip-hop influences. The vibrant energy, storytelling, and ability to address both local and global issues made it appealing to a wide audience. The genre’s success on streaming platforms showed its potential. These signings highlight the global appeal of Moroccan rap and help ensure its ongoing growth and international presence.
