July 23

Rabat, Royal palace

In celebration of his 50th anniversary, King Mohamed VI hosted a reception at the Royal Palace in Rabat, where numerous national and international figures were honored. Remarkably, rap groups H-Kayne and Fnaire, along with Bigg and Komy, were awarded the Royal Ouissam. This event highlights the success of artists who have thrived in a previously marginalized musical genre.
Four prominent figures in Moroccan rap were awarded the Royal Ouissam. Once condemned for its “verbal aggression,” rap has now achieved widespread acclaim and is officially recognized by the state. The trailblazers and celebrated icons of the Hip-hop movement have become representatives of the youth, enjoying the fruits of their achievements.
