First Unreleased Moroccan Rap Album by Shams Dinn

1987

September 01

Paris, France

In 1986, Shams Dinn was already working on his debut album under the Smiling C label, based in California, USA. The album consisted of seven tracks and was produced by Jean Soullier.
However, due to the Gulf War, the label chose not to promote Arabic music, and the album was never officially released at the time. While it’s unclear if this album can be considered the first in Moroccan rap, it certainly marked an important effort in the scene. The album was eventually released unofficially years later.
