Bin Lamdoum, Casablanca
Dros’s arrival marked the start of a new generation in Moroccan rap. Before him, the scene was largely defined by artists who tackled social and political issues, using their lyrics as a form of commentary. But when Dros burst onto the scene, he shifted the focus, introducing a style that was more personal and driven by ego, with themes centered on street life and self-empowerment.
Released in 2013, Dizzy Dros’s album became a classic in Moroccan hip-hop. With 24 tracks, it told stories from his Bine Lamdoune neighborhood, exploring themes like ambition, identity, and social divides. Songs like Nhar F Zan9a captured everyday life, Omar Smity showed his drive to succeed, and L’Benj, featuring Shayfeen, addressed generational issues.
Known for his powerful voice, and raw lyrics, Dros aimed to push Moroccan rap beyond its traditional audience. The album also featured OG collaborations with established rappers like Muslim, Would Cha3b, and M-Doc, further solidifying its place as one of the genre’s most influential records.
